- I am also on a quest to try out cheaper mascaras since my expensive ones always dry out so fast. Just picked up these and anxious to try them.

Intarsia- say what?

It seems that over the past year I am seeing "intarsia" everywhere. I ordered a DvF sweater dress last year that was described as their "intarsia" dress. This year, I am seeing intarsia all over the place. What is this?

After visiting my little friend, Wikipedia, I discovered that intarsia is a knitting method used to create patterns with multiple colors.

Alright, whatever. All I know is that I like it!

It reminds me of a cozy night by a fire sipping hot chocolate whilst watching the snow fall outside. I mean, I don't exactly live in Colorado, but I think intarsia is a very chic winter and fall staple!

Cozy, huh?

Designer Spotlight: McQ

Recently I stumbled upon some new arrival items on Saks Fifth Avenue. A couple of sweater dresses really stood out to me by McQ. Just judging by the name, I knew it must be some sort of sister brand to Alexander McQueen, the late fashion designer who passed away this past year.

McQ is described as being motivated by the work of Alexander McQueen, McQ looks to reference the essence and spirit of youth and sub cultures. The concepts of anarchy, rebellion and revolution are never far from the seasonal fundaments. McQ transcends generational and geographical borders. - McQ website

Here are some of my favorite pieces from the McQ fall line. I love the sweater dresses.

Fun Nails

This week I got a very fun and transitional nail polish color on my nails. The color is Essie 'Mesmerize', and it is the perfect University of Kentucky royal blue.
It's the perfect transitional color for these weird months before fall. I love it!

Give and Get Picks

Today started Gap's "Give and Get" Discount promotion where you can get 30% off anything and everything at Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Piperlime (Piperlime code only works if you got the G&G email from an employee).

To further clarify that, if you just got the email from being on Gap's email list, IT WILL NOT WORK FOR PIPERLIME. If you got an invite from an employee, it WILL work on Piperlime. Employees were given a certain amount of invites that they could email out and that is the only way the 30% off will work on Piperlime.com.

The Give & Get event will last until August 29th.

I stocked up on some great basics as well as a few snazzy pieces.

Here are my picks from the event (click on any picture to take you to the page):

- Old Navy Sweater Dress ($36.50 regular, $25.00 with discount code)

- Old Navy Fur Vest ($29.50 regular, $20.00 with discount code)

- Old Navy Marled Poncho ($39.50 regular, $27.00 with discount code)

- Banana Republic Legging Pants ($89.00 regular, $46.00 with discount)

- GAP Sweater Dress ($59.50 regular, $40.00 with discount code)

- Piperlime Chinese Laundry Wedge Booties ($89.00 regular, $62.00 with discount code)

If you didn't receive an email with the coupon code, you can use this one in stores. To use a code online, you would have to have received the email with a one-time-only internet code.
