This week I re-discovered the classic denim jacket. This white one is from the GAP and is literally from high school. My Mom found it in our garage storage and brought it to me. It's definitely circa 2002. I wore it with a black cotton maxi dress one night and with some H&M conscious collection shorts another night.
I definitely married into a very interesting family. Rob's Mom is the author of Real Raw Women, a blog about healthy living and eating raw foods. His sister has owned a yoga studio here in Memphis for a few years now. His other sister owns a Chakra jewelry and healing crystal shop. Needless to say, I get my fair share of health info and quirky eating habits from them. Last night we tested our body pH levels and made elixirs to counterbalance our alkalinity.
Rob's sister has an array of supplements and concoctions. She even ferments her own Kombucha!
I got "A Crewed Interest" by Essie on my nails this week. I really like the color because it's not something you see a lot. It's more peachy in real life.
How wonderful is this necklace that Zolie Designs sent me to review? I really love it and have already worn it twice since receiving it last week. Check out her stuff- it's really cute and great for summer.
I also love this one:
I am loving some Lauren Conrad lately. Her outfits are so effortlessly chic and I think she does a great job of mixing classic and trendy pieces. She can do no wrong in my book, and her hair is absolutely to-die-for.
Okay, so I think Tatcha is breaking me out, which is such a shame because I really liked the products and the way they make my skin feel. Ever since starting it two weeks ago (remember this post) my face has been breaking out like I'm in High School again. I have a nice bermuda triangle of zits going on around the cheek area. What gives?
Is it that much to ask to want flawless skin? I'm kind of in a skin care rut. What's your absolute holy grail product that you've found for skin care? Do share. I'm in the mood to try some new stuff.
I am on the hunt for some skinny jeans like this picture ever since seeing it randomly online:
I think mint is such a flattering color on most people. I have been searching for a mint colored sweater for spring. I finally found one at H&M and paired it over a mint colored sleeveless cotton dress also from H&M. I love wearing the same color with two different clothing items.
Cute skirts, right? Well, you will be surprised to learn where the skirts are from. So I've been out-of-town for work and one of my co-workers wanted to run in JC Penney to get something. I happily obliged to be their ride. I initially thought, "pfffffffft ... why do we have to go to JC Penney's of all places?"
Much to my surprise, I saw these two cute skirts in the women's section. I don't think I've been in a JC Penney since walking through one to get in a mall years ago. I was pleasantly surprised to find these cute pleated skirts that are definitely on point with the trends this season.
I wore the longer pleated maxi skirt with a blazer and scarf (it's freezing here in STL where I am currently).
I wore the shorter turquoise skirt with a gray t-shirt and a white scarf.
This just goes to show you that you never know what you will find in unlikely places!
No, I don't literally have yellow fever, but I am loving wearing the color yellow these days. These jeans (if you can call them that) are from Target! They were only 22 dollars, but I will warn you they are extremely tight and run super-small.
With Summer quickly approaching it's nice to take inventory of your summer essentials. Personally, I need to invest in a few of these pieces before summer comes.
1. Cotton Maxi Dresses- I could live in maxi dresses in the summer. They are so easy to dress up or dress down and it's an added bonus that they are super-comfortable.
2. Jean Jacket- I think this item is essential to wear over said maxi dresses or even little summer sleeveless dresses. I like to roll up the sleeves of mine. Make sure you get one that is super soft and lightweight. You don't want a thick jean jacket when it's hot outside.
3. Fedora- Yes, this is a little "hipster", but a great fedora can not only shield your skin from the sun, it can also be a fashionable way to hide a bad hair day!
This outfit is very affordable! The dress is from H&M and was $39.95. The scarf is from f21 and was about 9 dollars with tax. The shoes are from Tar-jay and were $29.99. I am seriously impressed with Target shoes lately. I probably haven't purchased a pair of shoes from there since early college years, but the two that I have accumulated in the past week have been great quality.
