PIPM: Pretty in Pink Megan: September 2012

Target Finds

I originally set out to look at these boots during my weekly grocery trip to Super Target.

Our Target did not have these boots, so I poked around the women's clothing section as well.

I was surprised to find these cute leopard pants and this leopard dress.

Yes those are mismatched socks.

I also wanted the leopard sweater, but I figured I would look like a lunatic taking three leopard items to the cash register.  Let's be honest -- I'll probably go back and get it.

Have you found anything good at Target lately?

Pencil Skirt Look + New Blog Sale Items

I recently wore this Rebecca Taylor sweater tucked into a fitted Theory pencil skirt.  I am loving the return of the pencil skirt to be worn more casually with sweaters or graphic tees.

All I need is more graphic sweaters and I am all set!

I added a couple of new things to the BLOG SALE , so take a look!

This and That

Hello Everyone.  I am now a wannabe ginger.

I hadn't done anything to my hair in months and was getting tired of my old crusty ends being so blonde.

I got some reddish highlights put into my hair because I wanted most of the old blonde ombre out of my ends, but didn't want to do anything too dark since my natural color is a pretty light color to begin with.  I have been toying with red for 2 years now and this definitely makes me want to go even more red, but I am not sure if I can pull it off.

After playing around with instagram filters, this is what a true red would look like on me.  I kind of like it.

My salon just started carrying Kevin Murphy.  I've wanted to try this line for a while, so I got some products per my stylists recommendation.  Do any of you all use these products?

Here are some other outfits that I wore last week when I was OOT for work.  I finally wore the striped Old Navy dress I blogged about a while back with a navy blazer.  I also wore the GAP sweatshirt dress with a blazer as well.

Did you all watch the Emmy's last night?  I have to say my favorite look was Julianne Moore in a stunning yellow Christian Dior gown.  I love that the look has long sleeves and I think her hair looks perfect with the color.

I think worst dressed goes to Ashley Judd in a replica of a 1997 Prom Dress/Bridesmaids dress with a poof big enough to store her cell phone.  What was she thinking?

Who were your favorites?

Deal Hunter

{Sweater: Design History, Skirt: Vince, Shoes: Joie, Purse: Givenchy}

This entire outfit (minus the shoes) is all discounted. Get ready ladies! This skirt is all leather and is Vince.  I found it at Nordstrom Rack on the clearance rack with a red sticker for 89 dollars and the retail price was nearly 600! The sweater is an old Nordstrom Rack find from last year that has definitely gotten a lot of wear.  The purse is Givenchy (the antigona style) and was found at -- brace yourselves -- TJ Maxx! I am out-of-town right now and spotted this bag on clearance at the TJ here and decided to take advantage of the good deal. It was on red sticker clearance for a total of 70% off original retail and is a current and popular handbag.  I have no idea why it was at TJ Maxx but it was no surprise to me considering I saw a Celine bag at a TJ Maxx earlier this year.

Do you all love deals as much as me?  I've gotten to the point where I will hardly buy anything if there is not a promotion or sale for the item.

Speaking of deals, I was so excited to learn that I won the Saks Instagram contest yesterday.  They are currently having a month long contest where you can enter a picture of shoes a day and tag Saks and #10022shoe for a chance to win a 500 dollar gift card a day.  You all should try to win- there are plenty of days left!

I'm not sure what I will buy with my gift card or if I will save it for Holiday gifts.  I am just super-excited and honored that I won!

Bonkers for Burgundy

Obviously I've really been feelin' the wine colors lately.  All of the above ensemble pieces are from H&M and the booties are Lucky Brand.  I guess I've also been a walking advertisement for H&M. What can I say? I love the cheap and trendy store.  It's hit or miss though.  Sometimes you can find some great pieces, other times it's all crap.

Here are some other burgundy items that I love:

Here are a couple of outfits that I wore this week.

Black dress is old Kate Spade.

I busted out some burgundy yesterday.  I am wearing H&M top and skirt with these Isabel Marant-ish booties I found from Dillard's -- they are Lucky Brand (throwback, right?).  I think they're really cute and will go with so much.

I am obsessed with everything by the designer Maje.  I want it all.

PS- I sent the gray boots back that I posted about last week.  Thanks for the opinions.

Hey There

I know you all have to be loving my low budget bathroom pictures lately.  Sorry, so busy, so little time.  Ugh.

On the left you will see one of the Old Navy Maxi dresses I purchased on sale.  These maxi dresses are amazing! I also ordered the black.

On the right you will see my trusty Robert Rodriguez blazer with an H&M skirt.

Okay, so a while ago I posted about these See By Chloe boots and the comments were a flowin' with accolades about how you all lovvvvved them.

Remember this outfit set?

So I get them, can't decide about them, and ask instagram.  I get an overwhelming consensus of NO SEND THEM BACK THEY ARE UGLY! *Sorry for the dirty mirror*

So what gives?  Should I keep or send back? Are they just ugly on me and cute in the outfit set? Halp.

Graphic Tee

Yesterday I wore this adorable t-shirt from GAP with a Boston Terrier graphic photo.  I also wore some new flats (they're only 49 dollars!) I got last week thanks to the Piperlime 20% off sale.

I am LOVING the trend of animal prints on sweaters and t-shirts this year.

Fall Staples

This is an outfit picture from last week.  I would say that this J.Crew chambray top was my ultimate summer staple.  I probably wore it a good 10 times as it seemed to go with everything.

While wearing this top, I started thinking about similar items I could purchase for fall that would be good staples.

1) Leather Jacket - Remember this Theory leather jacket I scored at TJ Maxx last year?  I am excited to wear it this fall! I think a leather jacket, whether it's brown or black, is a great fall staple.

2) Polka Dot Blouse- You can do so much with a good blouse.  You can layer a sweater/jacket over it or wear it on its own.

3) Layering Sweater Cardigan - Also great to just throw on over things including a dress, blouse, over leggings ... the possibilities are endless!

4) Loafers - The ultimate for comfort and coolness!

5) Booties - Wear them with tights, leggings, jeans ... you name it!

6) Black Wool Skirt - This is a great basic and can be worn with a blazer, blouse, or a sweater in the fall.

7) Sweater Dress - This has always been a basic for me.  A great sweater dress goes a long way!

What are some of your fall staples?

Metallics, Brocades, and Fall, Oh My!

I think I managed to get every trend of fall 2012 in this post.  Brace yourself for tons of brocades, jacquards, metallics, suedes, and burgundy/forest green colors.

Outfit 1: Jacket- Alexander McQueen, Jeans- JBrand, Shoes- Jimmy Choo
Outfit 2: Sweater- Jaeger, Shorts- RED Valentino, Booties- Isabel Marant
Outfit 3: Blazer- Elizabeth & James, Jeans- AG, Heels- Isabel Marant

Are you all tired of my boring work clothes yet?  I have to say I was super impressed with this Gap basic black dress.  I can wear it now and take it in to the fall with tights.  You can't tell from the above picture, but it has pockets too which is nice.  If you're in the market for a good basic, this one fits the bill.

I suppose the powers of social media marketing work because after seeing Sea of Shoes
in these cute Joie loafers I just had to order a pair.  I originally wanted the red, but I thought the black and burgundy would go with more.

Has anyone tried this new Chanel scent?  It smells like a lighter version of Coco Mademoiselle to me.  I think it's a good scent for every day despite the ad campaign saying it's a nighttime perfume.

I added a few small new items to the Yard Sale blog if you want to check it out HERE.  If you love perfume then head on over ...

Wearing a Dress as a Skirt

I recently wore this Zara dress (last seen here) as a skirt with a Design History cropped sweater.  I really like the idea of wearing dresses as skirts to get more wear out of them.  I think it can create a totally different look and will help out when you're in a clothing rut.

The Last Hurrah

I know there's a lot of debate on whether or not you can wear white pants after Labor day.  I say just do what you feel.  If you want to wear them in December, then by all means go right ahead.  I don't really wear them after Labor day because frankly, I am sick of looking at anything that reminds me of summer.  So, last night was the "last hurrah" for my white pants and summery items such as this straw hat from H&M that has been a great staple.  I wore my GAP Boyfriend top which runs BIG, but you all know I like baggy clothes.  I am also wearing AG cropped white jeans and GAP loafers.

Do you all wear white jeans after Labor day?
